Aloha!
I’ve been a math and science teacher for 18 years. I started my career in 2001, teaching high school science and math at a small charter school in Hawaii (West Hawaii Explorations Academy). WHEA uses a unique project based learning curriculum, and while there I developed a passion for education.
I've also taught middle school math and science in Texas (Howdy y'all! ) and North Dakota. I was born in Missouri and I went to college in Santa Cruz, California. I know what it's like to move around and have to find your footing in a new place.
I LOVE science and earned a degree in molecular biology before I started teaching. But when I was younger I really struggled with math. I was able to overcome that challenge so I could complete the physics and calculus classes necessary for my degree. And now math is my favorite! I became a teacher so I could help other kids who sometimes struggle.
