About Janine
I am happy to offer my energy and enthusiasm to you as a new student in hopes that you will gain valuable skills you need throughout your life.
Recently retired from teaching, I have experience teaching grades 9-12 primarily in Literature, Speech Communication, and dramatic arts including Shakespeare's major works. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Theatre Education and acting which helps me bring energy and creativity into my instruction. I also completed a minor in Communication Education and became endorsed in Secondary English and Literature. I received a Master’s in Communication in Interpersonal/ Intercultural studies. I spent most of my after-school time coaching students one-on-one for competitive speech tournaments and writing and directing competitive theatrical pieces. I have always loved being able to see individual growth during the season and enjoyed the ability to put teams in a position to win—personally and publically.

I am certified to teach secondary English, Theatre and Speech in Illinois; additionally, I am endorsed in those same areas for grades 6-8 as well as in Social Studies and Language Arts. My time in teaching has provided me with extensive experience in tutoring SAT and ACT English, Reading, and Essay sections.
