I love the moment when a concept clicks for my student; the expression on their face when a concept they have found difficult to understand for so long becomes clear. Then, their enthusiasm when they realise they can 'do science' and they genuinely want to learn more. I have been a high school teacher for ten years working with students age 11-19 in the UK. I have been tutoring for five years and an examiner for four years. I have an excellent understanding of what students find difficult to understand and where they often lose marks in exams. Every student is different but most learners respond well to interactive, pacy lessons involving lots of games, learner input and questioning. My students describe me as friendly and approachable. They say that I boost their confidence and give them tips and strategies they can apply in other areas too.
