About Derhyl
My name is Derhyl Middleton and I live in Decatur GA. I am originally from Orangeburg, SC. I have been married to the same man for over 32 years. We have four sons and 10 grandchildren (of which I am so proud of). I have a certification in Special Education as well as a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership. I am currently teaching 5th grade in an elementary school. I love to travel, spend time with my husband and grandchilren and explore new horizons. I also love to watch shows like Andy Griffith, Columbo, Matlock, etc on the weekends when I am home. Teaching is my passion because I am still able to learn from my students. I believe that "Knowledge is power."

Specialities
My specialities are teaching students with special needs because it gives me a sense of purpose when I see my students reach goals that others deemed impossible. I love doing unique things with computer software, such as being able to search and figure out the most effective way to teach my students how to multiply and divide fractions to its lowest term. I love the fact that I can use Excel and do my budgets for the year or set up a powerpoint presentation to give my students an introduction or and overview on a particular subject.
